About Dragonborn

Behind the artist name Dragonborn is Jonas Anker Aalborg – a papier-mâché artist who transforms everyday discarded materials into whimsical, fairytale creatures with a lot of personality. His universe is populated by fantasy beings that balance between the humorous and the magical, inviting the viewer into a world where anything seems possible.

Dragonborn's works are characterized by their vibrant expression. Inspired by fairy tales, dreams, and a child's free imagination, figures emerge that seem both foreign and surprisingly recognizable at the same time. It's art that makes you smile – and perhaps wonder a little.

A central element in Dragonborn's practice is the use of recycled materials. Old newspapers, cardboard, and other overlooked materials are given new life as imaginative sculptures. This approach is not only sustainable but also adds a special history and depth to the works. Each figure bears traces of what it once was, and simultaneously becomes something entirely new.

The process is hands-on and intuitive, where the material's structure and possibilities are allowed to co-create. The result is art with a tactile and living surface, where you can almost sense the hands behind it.

Dragonborn's art is not just objects – they are small stories in physical form. Creatures that seem to exist right on the border between reality and fantasy, reminding us that magic often hides in what we would otherwise have thrown away.
